One thing you should know about me is where I am from and where I am now-geographically, of course!

My husband(who you may hear from every now and again, or about), and I were born and raised in southeast Louisiana-home of our family, crawfish, Mardi Gras, and REALLY great food.

We now live in Central Florida. Yup, we are practically neighbors with Cinderella and Mickey Mouse. Not quite. But close enough that we secured Florida Resident Seasonal Passes.
This was a huge selling point in getting the kids to accept that we were moving from HOME. To be at least slightly excited about it. That’s another story for another day though.

Growing up, I watched my cousin and her family go to Walt Disney World every year from about 1975 till 1986 or so. Being the oldest of 4, we just camped in a pop up wherever my parents could afford to take us and it didn’t include Disney World until 1986, when my youngest sibling was old enough in my parents eyes to enjoy it. I never understood my cousin’s fascination with the place until then. I was 16 when we finally went and OH MY GOSH was it a little bit of heaven on earth, or what??!!!
I was not “too cool” for it by a stretch. I LOVED it.

I danced on Main Street USA to “I’ve Got No Strings” from Pinocchio. If I hear that song to this day, I have memories of my foolish dancing on Main Street. I brought my youngest sib to the Hoop De Doo Review at Fort Wilderness(where we were staying, IN the pop up!) where Chip and Dale just loved on her. I then continued to use my little sister as bait for characters that I wanted to meet too. It’s GREAT having a kid around with you in Disney. I KNOW that’s why so many parents want to bring their kids there young. I know I did.

I never went back until I was married and before we had children in 1995. We went with friends who were military. Shades of Green is an amazing place and I’ll never forget the hamburgers and fruit selections there, and the heated Mickey head shaped pool.

Until we moved here, I myself had been to Disney World in 1986, 1995, 2002(Make a Wish), 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009 and to DisneyLand in 2007 with just my hubby and me. How I was able to go so many times and pay cash for each trip is for another day, also.

I love Mickey.

I also love the beach.

It’s why Florida is such a good fit for us. Except for the food and lack of family here, the perks are downright awesome.
